In The Morning

Please, my precious one
Wake me before you go
Give me one more moment
To let my love show

Let me get lost
Once more in your embrace
Let me memorize the smile
Upon your sweet face

Let me touch your lips
For just one more kiss
And whisper to you
That it's you I'll miss

Let me relish the warmth
Of you in my bed
Let me hear the words
Still fresh in my head

Oh sweet dream lover
Don't go without a warning
Why must you leave
As dreams do in the morning

How cunningly nature hides every wrinkle

of her inconceivable antiquity

under roses and violets

and morning dew!
