Petes Poetry

War What is it good for?

I don't know what its like
to have a brother or father pass away
They died for freedom
that's what we know and have today.

My forefathers fought
for a peace that could'nt be bought.

They all have the right to bear arms
it's written in the American constitution.
But in this day and age,
Don't you think we could find another solution.

I believe in what i'm fighting for
and in its self that's peace
I bear no arms nor throw no punches
yet the battle will never cease.

The animal in us tells us to kill
if we don't get the right result.
but to take one another's life
who's really at fault.

I could never kill another man
no matter how evil he could be
me taking his life
would make me as evil as thee

Two wrongs don't make a right
only if peace and love could win the fight.

The pen is mightier than the sword
a wise man once said
why not put words instead of bullets
through a mans head

I cannot bear the thought
of bloodshed and fighting
when peace can be found
through dialogue and writing.
