In Return

I think of all you've given me
How sweet you are my friend
Always so supportive and caring
A true friend until the end

You've given me inspiration
And the flow that my pen needs
With your soft encouragement
Saying that in me you do believe

You've given me soft laughter
All those times you were so silly
Moment after moment of happiness
And each moment was fulfilling

You've given me a shoulder
And a hand to wipe the tears
Listening to all of my frustrations
With an ever gentle ear

So my friend I hope I can give
You something now in return
Just a token of my appreciation
For it was oh so often earned

I know exactly what this gift would be
I don't even need to think a while
If I could give you just one thing
I would like to bring you one more smile
