My Heart Was Talking

While down a path of anger
You were oh so boldly walking
You didn't hear the softest sound
To you my heart was talking

It didn't matter what it said
For you were so convinced
And now as you stop to take a breath
Notice my heart hasn't whispered since

So many times we've gone there
Each new time like the one before
Walking down this familiar path
As a heart lies on your trodden floor

What will it take to make you see
To just for one moment listen
How many more tears must fall unending
Through eyes that hurt and glisten

Perhaps you should take this time
And think about the things you do
So maybe the next time you're out walking
You'll hear my heart talking to you
