I see the dust gathering around my guitar case
And instantly I am taken back to that special place
I remember when my plectrum stroked your G-string
I smile a distant smile, just remembering
It was in a Smokey bar off Tottenham Court Road
I was playing at the Borderline, when in you strode
Leather trousers and black lace top
I remember thinking you had the lot
I was doing an acoustic version of Madness " driving in my car"
But my eyes were well fixed upon you at the bar
I thought you looked so lovely
Drinking your double straight JD
Lips like red roses fair
And long, long, black shiny hair
I played that U2 song " Still haven't found what I am looking for"
When you danced for me, on the dance floor
Looking at me as you danced
I was spellbound and in a trance
I went back stage after I finished
And you can guess what I wished
But you never came to see me
So I came out to see where you might be
But you weren't there, must have gone home
So I packed my guitar away, and left alone.
(2004)A poem about my nights out at the Borderline Club. If you ever come and see me in London, and we go out, We will end up at the Borderline. However in this poem i am playing on stage, but actually i can't play the guitar. I do however dance on stage, and actually i can't dance either!! I think this poems about3-4 yrs old, it's about seeing your ideal woman in a club, then you take your eye off her, and then she's gone, and you never know what could have happened?
