Darkness not my shadow
lays over clear blue skies
Tear drops from hidden eyes
makes river want to rise
Rain clouds within their mind
lightning sparks to those they meet
A hand closed by a fist
makes harmony into defeat
A soft word upon the wind
may calm the moment some
Smiles bright as sunshine
can shrink the shadow to none
Seeds of thoughtfulness
use tears to grow as one
An open hand in welcome
pried fingers to show we've won
A moment made of opposites
to balance on life's road
As birth and death precedes us
so is destiny always sown
A ring of laughter is in the void
of which is not seen or heard
But, to give it what it looks for
is to ignore God's given word
Are we a shadow
that never looks around
A little piece of nothing
not even on the ground
Or are we a piece of eternity
writing stories as we live
Going from one end to the other
building bridges with the things we did.
