A Musical Note

I am a rock, I am an island.

If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am shielded in my armor,

Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.

I touch no one and no one touches me.

I am a rock, I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain, And an island never cries.

I am neither the silence nor the song.
I am the "B" side of your favorite vinyl record.

You were the song.
I was merely a needle in your groove.

All that matters now is to forget
the sound of the tune we once danced to.

Now the air is heavy with a silence
and mute voices that refuse to join the choir.

I no longer dance. You shattered
the music while the Titanic sank.
