 The Unfairness Of Angels

The Forging of a Metal Goddess

It was around the time when the Gods had left men
Promising their return but they never said when
A great darkness and sullen mood had entrapped the lands
War and famine and murder by men's hands
Those demons from our dreams were now reality
And all the kings had been struck down by insanity
The Knights and Protectors of the land had fled
All apart from me, but they did leave me for dead

I refused to accept this constant darkness
I was aware of ancient prophecy about a metal Goddess
To be born from a blacksmiths fire and be bound in black leather
With the power to control the elements and the weather
I travelled the mines of dwarfs from the northeast
To the southern evergreens in the elven forest
I collected precious metals from all around
And harvest the most precious of all from deep underground

I rode a steed and me and my horse travelled for years
Under the darkness of a land of fears
I had collected the ingredients, and I knew what had to be done
So with my sack of metals I went of to see someone
I travelled to the far corners of the world where the land grew wild
Where I knew a blacksmith who was exiled
He was the blacksmith with no name
But I found his workshop by the sparks and flame

A man with eyes of blue and a long black beard and hair
Boomed “My Lord what brings you here, to my lare?”
I replied “ Great man of forging dreams of men”
“I have brought the earths metals to create a woman”
“ To be made from the earths powers and mans desires”
“To create the metal Goddess from your fires”
“And forge her from the phoenix flame!"
The blacksmith nodded and replied, “all will worship her name!”
“My Lord she will make the sun and blue sky appear”
“She will bring back the seasons year after year!”

The smith worked his skills in his magical ways
I can't remember how long he worked, years? Months? Or days?
I saw her being slowly created, and I donated my heart and my charms
And BlackSmith carved works of art upon her arms
I will never forget the day she was born
The land of darkness, had seen its first ever dawn
As the sun rose, and cast a shadow upon the ground
This Goddess of metal and painted skin made no sound
The smith said to me “ Kiss her my lord to make her speak”
So I went over and gave her life with a kiss on the cheek
The smith went back to work like the loner he is
Whilst I was still savouring the love of a Goddess after the kiss
When she finally spoke, it was like hearing all the birds at dawn
Indeed the saviour of man had been born.
She said in her tranquil voice, “Fair Sir, I belong to thee”
I felt a tear in my eyes when I said, “Sadly not, but mans destiny”

She kissed me gently and said, “What is your name?”
I replied, “I'm just a knight that takes away peoples pain”
“But” I continued, “I will tell you”
“My name my Goddess, is Matthew”
She touched my face, “I will not forget you brave knight”
“I will visit your dreams both day and night.”
She left then went in to mists
And head south to evergreen forests
When she left the birds sang, and the sky was blue
And She came to me in my dreams every night Her word was true
