SCRATCH! SCREECH! SCREAM! and SCRAM!
In faraway Pennsylvania, in a city called Scranton,
Sat a young woman, Sarah, whose last name was Stanton.
Sarah sat by the fireplace while reading her scroll;
She planned to be a rabbi, not to live on the dole.
Her eyelids grew heavy and she slept for a patch, but
Sarah woke from a dream when she heard a SCRATCH--
Next Sarah heard a SQUEAK followed by a feline "growl",
As Sarah's pet kitten, Steven, was on his nightly prowl.
Steven searched in the corners near the firewood there,
He hissed and jumped up, raising both tail and hair.
Sarah was scared breathless, quite unable to scream as
She clutched her scroll tightly, hoping the noisy
nightmare was only a dream.
Suddenly Steven stood cat-tall and pounced with
cat-SCREECH,
And the mouse had no chance--he was a dead
little "CREACH"!
Did young Sarah praise Steven? No, she SCREAMED him
to SCRAM,
"Out! Out! You bad killer cat! I'm in PETA,
by damn!"
