As I sit upon the ground so soft
My legs dangle loosely over the riverbank
Leaving the tips of my toes
To gently caress the water,
And as the water swirls up to my ankles
I place my hands behind me
Each one pressing heavily into the ground,
I smile freely at those who pass me by
Whether they travel by land or water,
I am distracted by a cheerful sound
As a little boat ahead
Drifts' slowly with the waters' tide
I am offered the gift of a peaceful ride,
And as I raise my hand and wave hello
I am sure they sensed I was happy not to go
And as I sit here enjoying this peaceful treat
I am grateful to have Sunday once a week
