Ode to an Unknown Drifter #205

Ode to an Unknown Drifter

Beneath the weeping willow strands
Where cross he made with praying hands
That marked a hallowed piece of ground
Beside the tracks once nowhere bound
Till prostrate there his soul at rest
In summer's heat his sins confessed
While looking up at distant stars
Believed in GOD from not so far
To take his life and make it whole
From drunken state and lost control

Beneath the weeping willow strands
Where cross he made with praying hands
That sealed the death of sinful man
And marked in time when life began
Anew to live again with Love
And thankfulness to GOD above
With praise and heartfelt gratitude
For sudden change in attitude
Had brought this drifter home at last
Forgiving him of all his past

Beneath the weeping willow strands
Where cross he made with praying hands
That symbolized the death of one
Unknown by Father, Ghost, or Son
But now he rests within their care
As saved by Grace from dark despair
For wooden cross now marks the spot
Where drifter came and found his lot
A broken man now child of Grace
Who's found on Earth his resting place

Beneath the weeping willow strands
Where cross he made with praying hands.
