Heart Of The Matter

Love Letters

Love letters, old,
Or borrowed or blue,
I open them up,
Pretend they're from you.

I read them with longing,
Love etched in each line,
You say, "Yes, I love you,
Be my Valentine".

They're kept in an envelope,
All yellowed with time,
And signed with your name,
The two hearts entwined.

I carefully fold them,
And put them away,
Along with the memories,
Of our younger days.
