Garden of LightFor My Mother The light from the candle burns brightly As it stands at the center of the table, Covered with blood red petals I gently lay a single rose beside it And as I sit back and rest my body Upon your favorite chair I step back, for a brief moment in time, I remember how excited you were To watch the roses in bloom And how thrilled you used to be To watch the grass grow so high, Your garden was your safe haven The one place you always loved to be, At this place you found quiet and peace A place where you could just be... Now your garden is your gift to me from you And because I know this was your haven, I cherish the memory of you At this place so full of peace and light, It has now become my special place to be By Julia Vote for this poem
