Missing Them
~designed by pj~
I wrote a poem about my little girl expecting not
too long ago,
Of course it was about our dog...from the picture that's
something you already know.
Sassy is her name and the daddy is our dog too,
It's an experience I will never again go through.
They were so cute and we figured they'd all be black,
They were all different...colors they didn't lack.
She's a rott and he's a black lab,with a little bit
of chow thrown in,
Mutts I know...but so adorable and each became a friend.
They were a handful when they started getting around as
I'm sure you can guess,
I walked around all day with bucket and scooper in hand
cleaning up their mess.
My sons took six to the humane society last week so they
could find good homes and a good family,
It cost more than we had realized so they brought three back
home temporarily.
Well...of course I got more attached in the week or so they
were still here,
Funnyface,Babyface, and Blueeyes is what I called them
though I knew their time was near.
Now I wish I hadn't spoilt them quite so much, they were
always at my feet,
I'm worried they won't get the same attention and I was
always giving them a treat.
I woke up this morning and the house was quiet and still,
Sassy was crying and I knew how she felt as my eyes began
to fill.
They were just gone and I felt so empty and sad,
I didn't even say good-bye,that's what makes me mad.
My sons are grown and I guess they knew,
If I had been awake what I would do.
I know my husbands right...we can't keep five dogs but
still I cry,
She better not have anymore pups because it's impossible to say good-bye.
