Cheeks kissed by roses smile up at you tirelessly
as the wearer hugs you at your knees,
with eyes so bright you're sure the sun rose there.
Cheerful play and laughter ring through the halls
in a make-believe world so joyous-
you too wish it were reality.
Discarded trucks and jump ropes dot the back landscape
and chatter of princes and kisses make you laugh out loud.
Big Wheels, Barbie dolls and hugs for mommy,
oh, the sweet innocence of a child
takes you back longingly to your own time
of angel kisses and fairy dust.
