Poems from a Lost Soul
Lessons in Life
I take a step forward
but fall further behind
Losing sight of myself
was just a matter of time
It seems the faster I run
the slower I go
And the more that I learn
the less that I know
The more money I make
the less that I get
And the less I remember
the more I regret
The more that I do
the less that gets done
And the more that I play
the less I have fun
The more I experience
the less that I dream
Growing up isn't all
what I thought it would be
The illusion of age
that I had in the past
Believe me is something
that I no longer have
I know now the truth
as reality sets in
And I wish I could start
this journey again
I would enjoy my youth
to the fullest extent
Remember and cherish
all the the time that I spent
But alas it can't happen
so I'll take to my grave
The memories I have
of my glory days
but fall further behind
Losing sight of myself
was just a matter of time
It seems the faster I run
the slower I go
And the more that I learn
the less that I know
The more money I make
the less that I get
And the less I remember
the more I regret
The more that I do
the less that gets done
And the more that I play
the less I have fun
The more I experience
the less that I dream
Growing up isn't all
what I thought it would be
The illusion of age
that I had in the past
Believe me is something
that I no longer have
I know now the truth
as reality sets in
And I wish I could start
this journey again
I would enjoy my youth
to the fullest extent
Remember and cherish
all the the time that I spent
But alas it can't happen
so I'll take to my grave
The memories I have
of my glory days
