Disabled?  Narrrr!  No Way!

We really are only as disabled…
As we allow ourselves to be,
Because it's how we project ourselves,
It's personal choice for you and me!

Ok, I can't do things a certain way,
That's classed as ‘normal' for others to do!
But, you have your way, I have mine,
Because there's usually a way to get through!

Now the things that I can't do of course,
Well, I find that a pain in the rear,
But that doesn't make me less of a person,
I just thought I'd make that clear!

I have feelings just like everyone else,
And my heart hurts just the same as you,
And if anyone has a problem with me,
Well, they know just what to do!

Walk through the door and close it,
And never look back at me,
Because if they can't accept me as I am,
I don't want them in my life you see!

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's not an issue,
Well, not an issue with me,
Just because I'm disabled,
Doesn't make me less than others you see!

I don't let things get me down,
Well, to do with my ‘disability!'
Because, like I said before,
I'm only as disabled as I allow myself to be!

I have a laugh in life,
And I think that I'm as fun as can be,
I mean, after all, I must be a laugh,
Cos I've got loads of friends you see!

Now if I was a moaner, or miserable,
And if I wallowed in my grief,
Then I would lose my love of life,
It would be taken like a thief!

But I will never allow it,
And as long as I draw God's good air,
I will never give in, that way I win,
And if anyone doesn't like it, I don't care!

So to those who think of them disabled,
You need to lose that train of thought,
For being able is a natural thing,
It can't be given, it must be sought!

And of course, sought by ourselves,
And it's there for all to see,
So grab that ability, and hold on tight,
And stay focused, just like me!

My wheelchair isn't a bind for me,
It's great, it gets me out!
And trust me, it's a breeze,
Of that there is no doubt!

I never get aching legs,
And I don't mind standing in a queue,
I mean, after all, when said and done,
It's the perfect seat for me! What about you?

Disabled?  Narrr!

It's All Good Innit!
