Dark Poetry From A Twisted Mind

Modern Broadway Girl

With aquamarine eyes
& pink-kiss lips,
She looks down
& writes
In her little notebook.

She fantasizes
Of other worlds,
Of sex with a man
On the back
Of a unicorn.

Long eyelashes
Intensify the loveliness
Of this
classically beautiful girl…

and yet she does not
mix well
with the Beautiful People.

She paints
Fantasy pictures
& sings
In a band
Whose songs she writes.

Her voice ~
Deep & haunting.
Like a ‘50s
Broadway girl.

Now with perfect red lips
& long blonde hair,
She belts out
The tunes
That torture
Her heart.

This lovely,
Unconventional girl…

Quiet
And hard
To get to know,
Except
Through
Her singing voice,
The songs
And poems
And novels she writes,
And her
Whimsical,
Sometimes sexual
Paintings.
