A Soldier Comes Home

(Welcome Home Scott)

Upon foreign sands of a distant shore
A soldier fights this day no more
With skin kissed by an unfamiliar sun
He's coming home to the ones he loves

Leaving behind all the events that have passed
As a smile this time his shadow casts
Walking with pride among his platoon
Knowing that he will be leaving soon

For two years now he has been gone
How those days seemed to linger on
A foreign place, but a memory to remain
A freeing farewell as he boards the plane

With a tear for those who wait for him
With anxious smiles as the plane flies in
Back to the place of love that he knows
Finally, today, a soldier comes home
