What Can I Say?How Do You Thank Someone... For Giving You Your Life Back? ***Friends Are Like Stars*** ...You Can't Always See Them... ...But You Know They Are There... ***For A Very Special Man*** I know I mess about and joke, And we have a really good laugh, I also know I've been a trial, Yes me, this poet called Cath. But now in all seriousness, I send this poem to you, To thank you from the bottom of my heart, For all your work on me and all you do! What happened in my life! This past year gone by, Was the hardest trial for me to face, And many a tear did I cry. You know about this life of mine, So I guess you know me true, And know I am a fighter, but this fight I won… Was mostly down to you! It doesn't matter how strong I am, Or how positive I try to stay, This fight was the hardest fight of all, The hardest fight in my life to this day! And no matter what road I now take, I can honestly say to you… That Adrian, you gave this life back to me, And I thank God for you, I really do. For no matter what, and no matter how, That we try to see things through, Sometimes the fight is too tough, That's when we need people like you! You're not just a surgeon, specialist, For you don't only specialise in health care, Your specialty dear Adrian, It's how much you hang on in there! For hang on in you do, And strive to put things to right, To make our lives so much easier, Your caring is out of sight! I said to you one time, That God had a plan for me, And He led me towards your path, He's a very clever God you see. He knew you would put me to rights, For His plan isn't for me to go just yet, But I believe in this one thing, There's a reason God gives us all we get… And I believe His reason for me, Was to face many a trial in my life, To help others who go down those roads, And for helping them through all strife! So I thank Him for my life each day, And I also thank Him for you, Because He did a really fine job, By giving you a heart so true! Not every doctor cares so much, And that dear Adrian is oh, so true, And trust me - I have first hand experience, Because I have had to face a few! So I thank you for giving me back my life, And for your caring heart as well, For you made my life less fragile, Adrian, you're a star, you're really swell. And yes, this is a serious poem, Written straight from my heart, When you became my friend one day, You gave my life a big kick start. Because you had every faith in ‘you!' That you would make me well again, Now I can have a life that I feel I deserve, And no longer feel that hurtful pain. You told me God mends the broken heart, And at that time I just didn't agree… Then one day, my life turned around, And God brought a loving man to me. So you see, God did me proud, He brought me two hearts good and true, And more, a man who worked his magic, And really pulled me through! That's you! So yes, I now face a future bright, And that's all because of you, So here's a thank you from my heart, For everything you've done to see me through. Happy Retirement!
