A True Soldier

Edwin Paul Clark Jr
Born November 11th, 1973
We should have known from the start
A veteran you were to be
You became a soldier
In your late teenage years
To fight for our country
You set aside all your fears
Ten long years of
Training and dedication
It was time to come home
We all waited with anticipation
Now with three nephews
And a little baby neice
You wanted to be part of their lives
To fill the missing piece
A few months too late
For Kobe was already gone
You decided right then
Home is where you belonged
It's been a few years
School you've almost completed
In our eyes
You have truly succeeded
In May 2004
You'd try somehting new
Off to the middleeast
Us again without you
It can never be explained
The true terror and the pain
Praying for you each day
While tears, they fall like rain
Now a civilian officer
It's what you were born to be
Helping protect this country
So we can be happy and live free
I'm proud to call you my brother
Even through the pain and the tears
To be honored and respected
You have earned these past 13 years
