The Gum Tree
A gum tree caught
my eye today.
It stretched towards
the brilliant blue
of sun drenched skies
and virgin clouds.
I watched it's leaves
gently move
in time with wind songs
soft and low.
I sat beneath
and looked above
and felt myself
a part of it.
My hair began
to dance with grace,
then I stood up,
and reached above,
and felt the
brilliance of the day.
And then my trunk
began to sway.
Joy Weare.
