I had a best friend years ago
Who sadly went away!
I can remember clearly
That dreadful day,
When I was told of the news
It was time for you to go
I can remember thinking
Another like you I will never know,
I can still see your lovely smile
Upon your little face
And I remember how you loved me
So no other could take your place,
I suddenly thought of you today
Which is why I wrote this poem,
I wanted you to know
Wherever you may be
You will live forever
In my heart and home
