Music Box Memories
I never imagined when I was ten
That I'd be sitting here now remembering when
With my fancy dresses and soft brown curls
I had only dreams of what would be my world
I never thought of feeling pain inside
Of the days in anger from which I now hide
Never knew of harsh words to be said
Those words that kill softly now in my head
Men were knights in shining armor
There arms would be a safe sheltered harbor
Hands would be tender as they touched my face
Yet now there's a scar that time can't erase
A salty tear slides now down my cheek
As trembling fingers turn a once known key
Looking for a trace of a little girl lost
That once danced in music box memories
