My Uncle said one day, your birthdays soon I see,
And I'll get you something special, just for you from me.
He always kept his promise, I was so eager for that date,
And then our God stepped in, and sealed my uncle's fate.
My uncle couldn't stay here, I remember how I cried,
When Moma called us on the phone, to say that he had died.
He gave us so much happiness, and shared all his love,
But he went away with Angels, to be with God above.
My birthday was forgotten, he was buried on that day,
No candles on a birthday cake, for this little girl today.
It was cold the wind was blowing, I couldn't understand,
I wanted my uncle back, and the special gift he'd planned.
We returned that day, to see the beautiful flowers,
While we were standing there, the sleet came in showers.
I looked amongest the petals, a tiny rabbit did I see,
I know my uncle put it there, his special gift for me.
I remember him each birthday, I still miss him so,
And I think of the tiny rabbit, I took home long ago.
I'll never forget you, or the promise that you kept,
Or how I stood on my birthday, by your grave and wept.
I loved you my dear uncle, no one can take your place,
And on all of my birthdays, I'll see your smiling face.

This is a true story put to rhyme about my youngest daughter who was 5 at the time and is now 23, and the uncle she loved dearly, and of course the baby rabbit she took home and loved.
