Upon A Tree!
Copyright @ 2004 Brian D Roberts
Upon the nook of a tree; that is where I'd rather be.
To raise my young in baskets I've strung; So they be safe from predators hung.
For I am a bird you see; It is my eggs that I leave.
Far above the ground I build; to protect my brood from snakes, and filth.
Here I shall set carefully; Waiting until my babies be free.
For then I shall teach them the ways of the world; The dangers, the deceits that thus unfurled.
To learn to sore above the clouds; To escape earths bounds to just survive.
All of the wonders my children shall see; The Fields, The Flowers, The Precious Trees.
What foods to trust, and those that are best; To show each one as if in a test.
For I am not much different then anyone else;
I want the best for my children with heath.
So next time you see me sitting on nest; please leave me be I'm trying my best.
To bring to this earth a new life born so; To watch as it grows unto beauties which show.
Thus shall I know I have done my job well; Then I shall live on as my children will go.
Away to the earth, and far above; So all of God's creatures admire such love.
