Heres to the black eyed susans, a flower from my past,
their uses were so many, they made the day go fast.
A full abundance in the summer, but in winter did they go,
we knew they'd be back one day, to put on a colorful show.
We looped tied, an knotted, necklaces did we make,
and decorated with care, the most special mud cake.
There were halos for our hair, and braclets on our arms,
and we strutted and modeled, all our hidden charms.
As we plucked the tiny petals, he loves me, he loves me not,
I remember all the hours spent, sitting in one spot.
All the bouquets picked for Grandma, with tender loving care,
the little black eyed susans, with her we'd always share.
The long lost days of childhood, so simple and so sweet,
memories of the happy times, makes your life complete.
Now I watch the children, doing what I used to do,
they bring me black eyed susans, to say , I love you to.

some humble memories from my childhood, to my own kids and now my grandkids, generations of black eyed susans, given with love and smiles.
