Musings by The Poet Loriet

Control

Why did you call me
after asking me not to call you
ever again...why did you
call me because there
is a police car
in your parking lot...
I have no idea
why it was there,
maybe for a neighbor,
maybe for you...
Maybe, it's not even
about you this time.
I didn't take your beer,
I didn't call the police.
I never wanted to control
either the police or you.
You are chosing
your own destiny,
O' Captain my Captain.
You have all the power,
all the control.
I will not be
your scapegoat.
All I ever did
was love you.
I don't deserve
to be your punching bag
for something I didn't do.
The choices are all yours.
At one time,
I was your best friend.
I am sorry for
anything I did,
but I'm not responsible
for all of this anger.
You are not yourself.
You have left your mind
and your emotions
at Laura's wedding altar,
not at mine.
