Book of Delight

As the rain falls outside my window
I rest peacefully in my favorite chair
And as I snuggle under an old blanket
My hands cling tightly to the book
Which rests upon my knee,
As I open the book
I begin to read the words
Printed boldly on the page in front of me,
And as I begin to drift to another place
I am entranced by the story
Which has begun to unfold before me,
Each of my fingers gently caress
The corners of each new page
As I anxiously turn them over
With great anticipation of what is yet to come,
While I can hear voices from afar
My eyes are captivated
By the words in front of me,
And for a brief moment
I have been taken to a place far away
Through the eyes of another
