Rhymes of the Heart

THE LETTER

My Dearest Baby Alex, these words are just for you,
someday you'll understand, why I sound so blue.
You, Mommy and Daddy, have moved so far away,
but oh, how I pray, you'll be back again one day.

I wasn't there at your birth, but tried to be by phone,
but they had to move your Mommy, I cried alone at home.
Later you're Daddy called me, his voice so filled with joy,
heard You crying in the background, a healthy baby boy.

You're pictures I display with pride, I cherish every one,
I wish You could feel my love, my Angel, my Grandson.
Miles and miles between us, I'd love to see you're smile,
and hold you in my arms, for just a little while.

Oh, how I brag about you, my handsome little one,
with just a fleeting moment, my heart you had won.
You have the Rogers name, always carry it with pride,
grow strong and tall little one, by your Daddies side.

You have your Mommys beauty, let her knowledge shine in You,
the strength and courage of your Daddy, He'll be you're Hero to.
So many here to love You, and miss You little one,
but know you're in our hearts, when each passing day is done.

Be good for Mommy and Daddy, as only you can be,
I'll send you love and kisses, till you again I see.
Sleep and grow little one, have such sweet dreams to,
though miles apart remember, NANA she loves You.

this written about my 6th grandson. He was born in another State,I could'nt be there in person so I was on the phone with them for over 2 hours waiting to hear babies first cry, and a complication occured and she had to be moved for a c-section so I missed babies first cry, had to listen to my own, lol no it wasn't funny
Now they live in Boston where his Mother is attending Harvard College.
