I hope you're reading this and it makes you blush~lol~This one's for you, Adam...because you are exactly what the title says~and you made me laugh with your funny lil Adam quirks last night~Just never stop being who you are, okay? Love, Lori
You're so damn cute
with your child in the closet
analogies about people and
your perceptions of the world...
I am just fascinated with
listening to your ideas.
And I love your quirks.
Knowing how you and I
are prone to all-night
telephone conversations
and you knowing that I
had to leave for work
so we only had a little
over an hour, you said...
"Okay, let's keep talking
until you really really
think you have to go
sprint out the door,
then we'll use a signal...
Give me a sixty-second
warning, okay?"
I giggled and marvelled
at how you make me feel
like I'm thirteen again.
It made me remember
our conversations when
we were younger and the
world was our oyster...
when we talked for hours
about dreams that
were so pure and innocent,
before life got in the way.
When life was pink horses
won at amusement parks and
dancing barefoot in your room
to Chicago songs that we
claimed as ours.
Before the army and law school,
nursing school and marriage,
kids and ferrets and everything
else I forgot to mention...
Somehow, talking to you
takes me back there again!
So, I gave you my sixty
second warning when I
really really needed to leave,
and neither one of us could
hang up the phone, because
we have never been
good at goodbye...
So, you said, "Okay,
here's the plan...
I'll say bye and
then you say bye bye,
okay?" "Okay"
Alright...
"Bye bye now"
you said...
and I said "bye"~
just the opposite of
what you had planned...
and that little ritual
had me laughing
all the way to work...
So, I wrote you this poem
just to let you know
that you are so damn cute
and you really make me
