Heart Of The Matter

The Actor

It seems that life,
Is but a play,
On broken dreams,
Dreamt day by day,
It's not as simple.
As it seems,
For every day's,
A different scene.

For I am actor,
Play the game,
I read the script,
It's all the same,
I learn the lines,
Word perfect now,
I make it through,
And take a bow.

Tomorrow there's,
Another part,
For me to play,
With all my heart,
Love you today,
That's all I know,
And happy just,
To let it flow.

I hear the crowd,
I cannot see,
The spotlight now,
Has blinded me,
Drowning now,
In adulation,
I'm deafened by,
Standing ovation.

My life directed,
By command,
They tell me when,
To sit and stand,
I speak the words,
I'm told to say,
And wonder who,
I am today.
