H annah you start school this year,
A nd mom will shed a big old tear.
N ow shop for clothes, you're color blues,
N ext get to match little socks and shoes.
A s you go off to school today,
H ave lots of fun, laugh and play,
E ven if your scared to start,
L earn alot and be real smart.
I n school you'll learn amazing things,
Z ebras run and big bird sings.
A bc's and 1-2-3's
B irds and bats and buzzing bees.
E veryday you'll learn something new,
T hey'll let you use scissors and glue.
H annah alot of new friends you'll make,
F or all you're parties I'll make you a cake.
L ook and learn and listen well,
O f all the stories the teacher tells.
W hen the bell rings mom will be there,
E agerly waiting for hugs you will share
R emember hannah if your mommy pouts,
S how her a smile when school lets out.

wrote this for my oldest grandaughter when she started kindergarten Aug.20th .2001 Each letter at the start of each line spells out her whole name, Hannah Elizabeth Flowers, I love my big girl
