In the Desert Sands, our men and women sit and wait,
the hours drawing nearer, for peace it seems to late.
They cannot fly our flag there, whats the harm I ask,
they'll fight without Old Glory flown, in this dangerous task.
Both afraid and anxious, and so very much in doubt,
don't shed blood for oil, is what our hearts cry out.
So many Families torn apart, the lives that could be lost,
they'll fight with everthing they've got, no matter what the cost.
On the land, in the air, and out there on the sea,
our service men and women, will fight for you and me.
We've tied our yellow ribbons, an cried a million tears,
we write a million letters, an battle with our fears.
Our eyes and ears on the news, our prayers to God at night,
to bring you home safely, and end this senseless fight.
Know matter what the out come, in the Desert Sands,
remember whats important, God holds you in His hands.

I wrote this back in the 1980's during Desert Storm, which my cousin served in.
