Sleeping BeautyI lie alone, still awaiting your coming, My senses sharp, attuned to your tread. Rain at the window steadily drumming, Full loving hearts, bound by a thread. The seasons cry out and bestow blame. I know you still seek me. The heated wind whispers your name. I know you still need me. The task given you, a challenge to all. Many have ignored, not heeded the call. I trust you will find the courage to fight, It has been so long, continual dark night. Leaves have changed colour, fallen and soft, Whilst my thoughts have flown to you oft. Weary bodies and even wearier minds, Thoughtless acts, strength hard to find. Pray you go on despite deep bone aches. You can't afford the delay of mistakes. It's my heart and soul you need to retrieve Captured by those who would deign to thieve. My sleeping body just an empty shell, Where both spirit and mind once did dwell. Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
