This has been a sad weekend. A dear friend received the following news: Her grandson, Dustin Colby, had been killed in a one vehicle roll-over accident while on route to a staging area with the 1133rd Division of the Iowa National Guard, final destination, Iraq.
The entire family is devastated~~~~~so please, say a little prayer for them.
In Memory of
Dustin Colby
A mischievous child he was destined to be,
For his eyes sparkled with mirth, and with glee,
Beautiful eyes, and a smile so rare,
Handsome and strong, beyond compare.
Oh, the life he LOVED in such a short time,
To try new conquests, he was first-in-line.
He gave all his heart, and it seems to be,
The quality was worth MORE than the quantity.
Not yet 21, we salute him today
Knowing tomorrow would have been his
"Big Birthday,"
It seems that God had bigger plans
than we can ever surmise,
"For only the good die young",
And Dustin reaches for the skies.
And now we have an Angel
Whose name we all know,
And he has a sense of humor
As his smile so plainly shows.
Heaven is a little happier
There is more joy there today.
Because Dustin is there "stirring up"
the little cherubs as they play.
Thanks for the privilege of knowing
Dustin, Lord, our memories all will be,
Of the joy he brought into our lives,
And the Love he shared so freely.
Please comfort us as we remember
All the joys and sorrows we shared,
And let Dustin know that we love him,
And our "Memories" become Our Prayer.
He was so proud to serve our country,
Honored to go to Iraq, where he
Would have served with distinction,
But Alas, the Lord had other plans, you see.
Dustin patrols the golden streets of Heaven,
As he stands at Jesus' side,
Hold on to your faith, draw your comfort
from the Lord,
May His Peace in you always abide.
