Can You Feel It?Can you feel it, see it taste it? The wonder of words, invoked, The beauty that is within! As words spew out till you're choked! Can you hear them, smell them touch them? The sounds of life and love and things, As they pour forth from the throat! And the wonder of what the word brings! Can you imagine the feeling? Of not being able to communicate! No understanding the written word, If deafness was 'your' fate! Can you feel it, touch it, and wear it? Words, every kind of word, Silken smooth as they smother you, Words that you've never heard! No, for it's taken for granted! Hearing's in every day life for many you see! So how would you know how it feels? To live in a barren world that's sound free! A reality check, that's what this is, To make you feel, take in, and think, Of the world around you in silence, A soundless world could be yours in a blink! This wonderful language given, Sign, a language like nothing on earth, Beautiful to see and to experience, To know sign language's importance and worth! We should all be ashamed you know! For to give people a language so fine, And then the hearings of the world not learn it! Why? Don't they have the time? Make the time, make it soon, Make a space in your life each day, Make the world a better place, Make it communicative! See what I say! ...I Did... ***You Can Too*** Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
