Not Your Cheap Little Trinket

Do you see my heart
as a decorative figure
or a cheap little trinket?

Can you not see it
as the innermost, essential part
of my spiritual being?

Why must you violate it
with your thoughtless transgressions?

Do you think
this won't cause it crushing sorrow?

Do you think
there is such a thing as painless anguish?

That my heart will just bounce back
on the morrow?

It won't, you know..

But, I suppose you don't know

Because that would mean, real feeling
You would have to express.

However, my guess is that
That'll never happen

Because, me-thinks my heart
To you
Is just a decoration
Or your cheap little trinket..

And it's not.
