A Day Out
Dainty girl
At flowered desk,
Cutting satin,
No time to rest.
Greek widows wander
Round the town,
Up the street,
Then back down.
School girls in long
Tartan skirts,
Some with smiles,
And some quite curt.
Gypsy girls
In wide brimmed hats,
Tea and scones,
Smile and chat.
Small boys climbing
Tree in park,
Missing leaves,
Looking stark.
Old couple licking
Ice cream sweet,
Ginger, chocolate,
Nice to eat.
Cappuccino
In the sun,
Vanilla slices,
I'll have one!
Joy Weare.
24th September, 2004.
