Heart Of The Matter

Wounded

I lose myself within a cloud,
I'm gently floating by,
I have no sense of feeling,
I have no need to cry.

My spirit has been wounded,
But still it's standing strong,
Now strengthened by ability,
In knowing right from wrong.

I will not be your victim,
Or the scapegoat for your lies,
The truth is that you cannot run,
There are no alibis.

I have a shield around me,
Your arrows cannot pierce,
It's been built out of all the hurt,
I've gathered through the years.

And now I'm resting on a cloud,
My wounds need time to heal,
You cannot hurt me any more,
For pain, I cannot feel.
