Do I Explain This Spine Of Mine?

Ok, I wake up to every day,
With terrible pain in my spine,
It drives me mad, makes me sad,
But I hope never moan or whine!
There is no point, it won't change things,
So I just plod on with my life,
Accept things just as they are,
For I'm a lover of life and I hate strife!!

I won't live with depression or negativity,
For there's no reason that I can see,
It won't change a thing, so I just plod on,
And sail through life, as it should be!
But today my car was getting fixed,
In the garage - there it sat alone…
And my lovely cousin Richie,
Drove me from the garage to his home!

But we got side-tacked on the way,
And went driving about the town,
We dropped into the café he'd just sold,
And had a cup of tea while we sat down!
Then we drove off again for a message,
To buy some trays for the shop,
And when we got to the place…
Richie pulled the car to a stop.

‘Come on, Cath,' he said to me,
But I said; ‘Richie, there is no way…
That I can walk around that shop!'
‘It's ok, I'll help you,' he did say!
So in we went, and deep down inside,
I knew it was a big mistake…
For to really be quite honest,
My spine was very much at stake.

I only walked a little bit,
But it was really far too much,
But my wheelchair was in my car in the garage,
And that chair's my legs and my crutch.
And as we walked about a bit,
Up and down the isles,
People went about their shop,
Passing over little smiles!

But my spine just couldn't take it,
The pain was getting out of hand…
I need to take the pressure off,
I just couldn't – couldn't stand.
So I went over to the checkout,
And leant on the desktop there,
I had to hang on for dear life,
For there wasn't any chair.

I called to Richie; ‘where are you?'
For I looked but really couldn't see…!
Where he was, or how far away,
Then things got out of hand for me.
I needed him there!  I was in a mess,
I needed him fast…so I gave another shout!
Because I was about to pass out with the pain,
Of that…there was no doubt!

He came rushing over to me,
I think I must have turned a shade of green…
And at that point, I can safely say…
Richie knew what my fears had been!
I was afraid that my spine wouldn't cope,
And suffice to say, that was so true,
And next time I'm out and about…
My wheelchairs coming too!

I don't like to make any fuss,
Don't want anyone hear me moan,
But I jest you not, I won't repeat that,
Next time without my chair, I stay at home!
Its only when something happens like that,
That my plight is all on display,
But in future, you can be sure,
I will speak out, and tell them…'Hey!'

Its not that I'm making an issue,
Of the pain that my body has to bear,
But no matter where, and no matter what,
I'll make sure my chair is always there!
To not speak out and not to tell,
Of how things are for me and my spine,
It absolutely stupid of me,
For telling how it is – doesn't mean I whine!

It just means I have to let it be known,
That thing's are not always as they should be,
For problems and pain can be hidden so well…
For some things you just can't see!
So no, it's not that I'm complaining,
It's not for any other reason, or for sympathy,
Its just I have to speak out and not hide,
Just how it is for my spine and me!

...It's Simple You See...

Lack Of Voice Means Much Pain

And A Major Problem For My Spine And Me!
