Liberal or Conservative?
So much talk going on these days
Liberal or Conservative, there are ways
of defining just what you should be,
Ever wonder what Jesus would think if He
Was asked to classify Himself
Compassionate Conservative or liberal Shelf??
Jesus is Liberal in the Love that He gives,
For His Grace extends to all that lives.
Yes, Ninety and nine, He would leave
To rescue the one, who did misbehave.
And to the prodigal son, He did bestow
His Blessings; yet such "debt he did owe".
He Blest "the Poor in Spirit" and "they that mourn",
Jesus watches over you since "before you were born."
He told the thief upon the cross,
"Because of what you say,
You will be in paradise with me,
and we are leaving here today".
Conservative?? True, for "narrow is the gate",
"eye of a needle"?, "a camel"?, discouraging rate!
Compassionate conservative? He sure must be
For "you do unto Him", in the "very least of these".
In thinking about Jesus, it just has to be
He's a conservative liberal, compassionately!!!
But I think the only label He really condones
Is Our Father, seated on His Heavenly Throne.
