(This piece was written for someone who was dear to me, and was killed by a drunk driver who happened to be a three star general in the ARMY. Though the general was on the wrong side of the road, and all his family was killed, the driver my friend of the other car was killed too, and had a blood alcohol of.29 the fault was put upon my friend. This was a piece of frustration, and maybe not one of my best efforts.)
Individuality;
Within the thoughts of those you know
can sometimes spark a fatal glow
Working the wiles upon your mind
making it necessary to imbibe some wine
Exposing the cork of people near
draining down like a bottle of beer
But, within the time of stress we see
the consequence of mixing scotch whiskey
Some become silly while other rain their tears
other become belligerent while others harbor fear
But the worst thing of all as far as I see
is the drunk outside the door
with their hand full of keys.
The luck of the drunk
is not taken by the other
For the one they may kill
is someones family member
Then the law puts them
in jail for a year
So they can come right back out
to drink with no fear.
What is murder to one
is bad luck to the other
They aren't the ones
who lost a family member
In Japan the penalty is
the support of the family maimed
For the remainder of their lives
some justice may be claimed.
