Romance Lost
Remember When
Remember when we'd sit and play,
Serenade the nights on our Holidays,
Light the trees and hang the bells,
Hug us warm and love ourselves.
Remember when we'd watch the stars,
Tell bad jokes and fill the jars,
With little bugs that blink and go,
Where they flew we'll never know.
Remember when we'd play a game,
Roll the dice or think up names,
Pretend we knew the words we wrote,
And laugh until we each had choked.
I remember well those times,
Faded now like silent mimes,
Just as I remember you this way,
Your still my Aunt, Happy Birthday.
Serenade the nights on our Holidays,
Light the trees and hang the bells,
Hug us warm and love ourselves.
Remember when we'd watch the stars,
Tell bad jokes and fill the jars,
With little bugs that blink and go,
Where they flew we'll never know.
Remember when we'd play a game,
Roll the dice or think up names,
Pretend we knew the words we wrote,
And laugh until we each had choked.
I remember well those times,
Faded now like silent mimes,
Just as I remember you this way,
Your still my Aunt, Happy Birthday.
