I took a short trip to the Twin Cities with Dorothy yesterday, and noticed the colors of autumn on the drive home.
Colors of Autumn
Deep reds of sumac, mixed with the
rustic golds,
And the glorious colors of Autumn unfolds.
Pumpkins so orange, so faces can shine,
Jack-o-lanterns made by this child of mine.
The winds get chilly, there is frost in the air,
Waving miles of golden grains, and no time to spare.
Harvest begins in earnest, there is much to be stored.
And the harvest is plenty with the help of the Lord.
Yes the plants are all dying, the leaves are tumbling down.
Soon these glorious colors will be just mulch on the ground.
Do you ever wonder why God made a season's death so bright ???
Could it be that He understood we feared
death, and just might
See the colors of Autumn and decide Death might remain
Unknown to us, yet not frightful, with so much to gain.
If God put these glorious colors here to be seen
The colors of Heaven must be truly serene.
