Halloween in 2004
~~designed by pj~~
I remember holding my brother and sister's hands on Halloween Night,
As we walked to each door where the lights were shining bright.
Some parents were dressed up to scare us as they handed us a treat,
We may have been scared but it was the price to pay and really kind of neat.
Sometimes they'd even jump out, say BOO!!! and we'd turn to run,
They always laugh and call us back to get our treat, it was so much fun.
Porches were lit with pumpkins, goblins and witches hung from the trees,
Spiders would be hanging eveywhere, things would jump from the leaves.
People actually invited you in the house to see how you looked as they gave us our treat,
Every once in a while they'd ask if we were tired and would we like to rest and take a seat.
Of course "back then" we could go later then they get to go now,
It's still almost light outside and if they collect
much candy I don't know how.
I don't think I would have been delighted and scared
all at once if it hadn't been really dark,
My children are grown now but they loved trick or
treating and Halloween too,
We had to take them of course but now each year it's
something new.
I understand the reasoning but it's really pretty sad,
Our world is scarier than Halloween and that's really bad.
It's really sad that "THOSE BAD PEOPLE" get by with making
it this way,
I mean after all ,free candy, treats and FEAR only
happened on that special day.
