Heart Of The Matter
I Never Thought
I really never thought you'd come to be,
The one I'd carry with me all my days,
So many times I've tried to set you free,
And tell myself it's just a passing phase.
A phase that's lasted oh, so many years,
With days and nights all merging into one,
I cannot truly say I've shed those tears,
Somehow, I feel the best is yet to come.
The best is yet to come for you and me,
And though the winter nights draw ever near,
I find a tranquil shelter, simply be,
And think about the love I hold so dear.
I wonder if I mean the same to you,
And if I wasn't here what would you do.
