My cousin, from Maine, and his wife visited me recently and we have been in touch via email for some time now. Several days ago, he told me he had sent me a package, and I anxiously awaited it's arrival.
Of course, he didn't tell me what was inside~~~~~and when I opened it
Memories came spilling out~~~~~~
So I wrote a poem~~~~~
Pictured Memories
A package came in the mail today
from a cousin; who lives far away.
I opened it, seeing what he had in store.
I found a letter, and a whole lot more.
The first picture he had enclosed
Was of my sister, that he hadn't known
Which sister it was, would you please tell me?
Smiling at me was Leone: at about 16.
My sister Leone, is such a gorgeous girl,
She kept her male classmates in a whirl.
Sapphire Blue eyes, flowing raven hair,
A Beautiful girl, far beyond compare.
"Looks are only skin deep" we were often told
Seeing Leone, you would have thought you found gold
She is loyal, honest, and friendly that's true,
As sister, and a friend, she is really
True Blue.

Standing arm in arm, I almost cried.
For he was killed in a battle in World War II,
Leaving her and their young son,
whom he hardly knew.
Aunts and Uncles, and my Grandma, too,
Were pictured there, then before I was through,
Memories came flooding from the past.
Hoping these wonderful photos won't be the last
Received from my cousin living
far away.
For memories, so rare, I really want to stay
Close to my heart, locked safe and secure
Love of family will always be ever so pure.
