Did The Punishment Fit The crime?

He/She/Both/All

In other words, this can and does happen to anyone!

Did the punishment fit the crime?
Did the child deserve the pain?
Did she even understand?
Did she know it would happen again?
Did anyone even care?
As she cowered in the corner alone!
Would anyone even notice?
If the child ran away from home!

Did she understand?
All the reasons why?
Did he ever comprehend?
What made her father cry?
Did she ever feel loved?
When she was showered with gifts galore!
Why oh why was she beaten?
Did she even know what for?

Her life was borne in misery!
Her body wracked in pain,
Beaten and battered black and blue,
Over and over again!
So afraid of her father,
And the violence deep inside!
No rhyme or reason, no excuse,
And the fear she can't hide!

Her life a living nightmare,
She lived deep inside her shell,
Hiding her fear from the world,
And the life she lived in hell.
Into retreat, inside her mind,
She lived a fantasy life,
Were pain and sorrow didn't exist,
No torture, struggle or strife.

Brought up into this violence,
She thought it normal for all…
How was she to know its not?
This child so frail and small!
The child grows into youth;
She was still in fear each time…
Her father was annoyed!
Did the punishment fit the crime?

NO!!!!

The child thinks on back…
To the days of terror and fear!
And she'll never understand;
The beatings from one so dear.
Why did she carry the guilt?
For it wasn't her fault at all…
But the feelings of betrayal are there,
For the child so frail and small.

Will she ever understand?
Ever come to terms why?
She was always left, beaten,
Left on her own to cry!
One thing about all this,
Its made her as tough as hell,
No more abuse, no more excuse,
So this tale I decided to tell!

It makes you look at the world,
With a different perspective on life!
Fear, pain and torture, no need!
Nor for mental torture and strife!
Did the punishment fit the crime?
Did the child deserve the pain?
No, she didn't know one does!
Cruelty's a terrible shame!

The punishments never condoned,
It didn't have to occur!
It never should have happened;
It was cruel and so unfair...!
Did the punishment fit the crime?
Do children deserve the pain?
No, so we need to make it stop!
So it will never happen again!

…Another sad tale of another sad life…

But his tale she told…

Why?

Because 'I' Didn't Deserve It;

Nor Do You!!

There is NO excuse!!!
