Her Little Tears
( a poem about abuse, something I endured as a child from a neighbor)
Weren't her little tears
Enough to stop your torture
Would you even have regrets
If you had once looked at her
Didn't her whispered pleas
Make you try to understand
Couldn't you feel the pressure
From her trembling hands
Couldn't you tell by the way she shook
That you scared her close to death
Did you know she prayed for the end
Every time that you took a breath
How could you take it all away
Couldn't you have left her soul
Did you know she'd always see your face
In all the memories that she knows
